Checklist for Fire Detection and Warning


The checklist below can be used to ensure that fire precautions are implemented and maintained to an appropriate standard.



Checklist


  1. Is a fire detection and alarm system installed where it is required?

  2. Is all fire detection and alarm equipment inspected on a regular basis?

  3. Are there any instructions for relevant personnel regarding equipment testing?

  4. Are employees in charge of testing and maintaining the equipment suitably trained?

  5. Can present fire detection systems detect a fire quickly enough to raise an alarm and allow all people to flee to a safe location?

  6. Is it possible for a warning to be heard and comprehended throughout the entire premises if it is issued from a single point?

  7. Is there a backup power supply if the fire detection and warning system is powered by electricity?

  8. Have you informed your personnel about your fire alarm system? Will they be able to use it and respond appropriately?

  9. Are your staff given training on how to use the fire alarm system and what they should do if they hear a warning?

  10. Have you considered fire detection and suppression?
